Site preparation continues

The presence of heavy equipment on campus proves that the building process is really underway, even if one of the impressive machines is destroying the masonry arch.

Barriers went up on the east side of campus on Wednesday, July 28, as work started on east side of campus, where the new buildings will go. The grass was mowed down, and silt fencing is being installed.

Construction Has Started!

After a year of planning and anticipation, work is now under way to build our new campus, slated to welcome students in 2011. Since the new campus building will be built on our back parking lot, job number one is to re-vamp the main parking lot to accommodate more cars.

The new lot will have a permeable surface, to handle any 100-year flood events; the main entrance will move further west, towards down town Perth, and our building pad, home to shed construction each year, will move west too.

Along with the excitement comes some sadness. The lovely stone arch, built for our Heritage Masonry program, will be dismantled to accommodate cars.

The trees, however, get to stay!
